new. a new year — a new artist. “new” art?
at the beginning of the year, and at the same time marking her debut at produzentengalerie passau, simone hamann presents selected prototypes from her studio.
the artist works in long creative processes on various bodies of work that continue to evolve, merge into one another, and reference each other.
if one were to trace a chronology, it would begin with the emergence of clouds, from which the so-called bubbles eventually formed and finally evolved into “simultaneous.”
alongside this consistent development of her own visual language, small prototypes have repeatedly emerged — pieces that often remain unnoticed in the studio for a long time before continuing to develop: becoming independent artworks or series, turning into “new” art, or, as in the current exhibition, finally receiving their own moment.
the artist invites visitors to let their own thoughts and imagination unfold, or to reflect together with her on how individual pieces might develop, how they could have developed, what lies within them, or whether they should remain as they are for now — keeping their secrets a little longer.
